A/Professor Simon Bell, is affiliated with Monash University Department of Surgery, and the Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow Centre. He is an AOA qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a clinical focus in shoulder, elbow problems and sports injuries.
Simon undertook his undergraduate Medical degree at the University of Melbourne, his residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and his Orthopaedic speciality training in Melbourne. He has travelled and worked widely, undertaking two years of Fellowship training (Shoulder and Elbow) at the Schulthess Klinik in Zurich Switzerland, and at the Mayo Clinic in the USA.
He holds a PhD in shoulder surgery, is a former President of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia (SESA), former President of the Victoria Shoulder and Elbow Society and a corresponding member of the Shoulder and Elbow Societies of Europe and U.S.A.- by invitation. He is an AOA accredited Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship supervisor and Upper Limb teacher. Formerly Head of the Upper Limb Unit, Monash University Department of Surgery, Monash Medical Centre.
Simon is internationally renowned for his clinical evidenced based research which is published in peer reviewed journals. This ensures he is at the forefront of new and current advancements. He is frequently invited to teach and speak at national and international conferences.
Simon employs two registered nurses who are always available for advice and questions, and in close collaboration with Simon the best outcome physically and emotionally is ensured, through and beyond the process of treatment or surgery.
